By the time my son was in 8th grade we were under serious pressure from his cheider to get him evaluated. Yaakov had no trouble reading, but no matter how hard he tried, or how much we sought to help him, he was just unable to learn Gemarah. Someone suggested that we try Machon Aley Or, since LNDA is known for helping boys who struggle with learning Gemarah. Within a few weeks of beginning Occupational Therapy his rebbe remarked to the principal,” I don’t know what happened, but this isn’t the same student!” Six months later Yaakov was accepted into a good yeshiva kentana, whereas previously the cheider had recommended a remedial yeshiva ketana.
